A New Home

.... I don't mean for me, as I am still living in my grandparents house. However, I am in the process of buying it with my boyfriend John. He moved in just before Christmas and the place really does feel like home now.

We are both very happy and last Saturday, we bought a large fish tank/aquarium and made a home for a variety of fish and a couple of shrimps.

John here is busy putting together the cabinet for the tank.

This is me helping (well trying to).

This is what the tank finally looked like last Sunday after we had built it, put in the plants and ornaments and let the water settle overnight.

Next came the exciting part....... living creatures!

This is one of two shrimps we have. The other one is slightly larger and a browny colour with reddish spots. They are Amano shrimps.

These are Neon Tetras and we have 12 of these. We also have 2 Platinum Tetras.

We also have 4 Platy fish. One is bright orange, one is yellow with black dots, one is orange and black (all 3 are male) and the 4th one, a female, is silver with a blue dot in the tail.

On Wednesday more fish were added to the tank from John's old house as he finished moving in here properly. We now have 6 male Guppies (with beautiful tails), 10 baby Guppies which are so tiny we'll keep until we can sex them and then give the females away, and the star of the show........
He is a 14inch long Suckermouth Catfish, a Pleco. I have called him Tiger (but before anyone tells me, I know he has the wrong markings for a Tiger!!)

Since his arrival we have rearranged the plants and ornaments so he has a full length of the tank to swim and he seems very happy.

Watch this space for further developments.......

Nice fish. I'm afraid I'll feel like I have the run of the house for a few years though - sorry!

Hi you two,

Your fishies look very lovely and cute, I'm sure they'll have a happy home with lots of bubbles and fish flakes :)

See you soon,

Janine
